I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about inspiration. When I look at my own life, in many of its finer aspects, it has been a search for inspiration. It has also been an attempt at becoming a channel of inspiration. When I think about my life-all of it-I think in many ways inspiration seems to be at the center of everything for me.

Sure, I have sought money, influence, pleasure and other such things along the way, and yet as I look at them now, they really seem to me more like handholds, images, or reflections of something more magnificent that I have desired deep-down: inspiration.
What is inspiration? For me this world is about connecting with a reality that is so much larger than what our conscious awareness is usually experiencing. It is about experiencing the sublime that currently peeks into our realities every now and then.

For me, inspiration is not just supposed to be an every-now-and-then-the-angels-sing-and-the-sky-lights-up-like-a-million-suns kind of a moment. I believe that we are all being called, guided, and led to live inspiring lives. Not lives where details distract us and bring us down, but where every aspect of our lives radiates goodness, truth, and beauty as a matter of course. Inspiration is about connection to more of who we really are, to more of who we are to each other, to more of the Source from whence we come.

Just because we haven’t perceived inspiration on a constant basis does not mean that it is not constantly available. I believe that our current Inspiration Quotient (I.Q.?) is only a reflection of our current openness to it, not to the amount that is available. I like to think of it as an infinite, untapped resource of incredible power with more than enough to transform everything for the better, beyond our abilities to imagine.

I think inspiration is basically about two things: what we receive and what we release. Receiving and releasing are partners in the dance of life. For as we receive inspiration, we are empowered to release more of what keeps us from perceiving it. As we release the fear-based programming that dulls and limits our perceptions, we are even more open to experiencing the inspiration that surrounds us like the air we breathe. And so these two aspects: receiving and releasing form a potential cycle of renewal that we can participate in as we seek to move from living according to our fears to living according to inspiration as it breaks into our souls, hearts, minds, and bodies.

There is so much more for us to experience. There are unlimited possibilities just on the other side of our fears and doubts. Let’s receive power and release fear and together discover a new fire within and amongst us that burns ever and ever brighter.

Sometimes people ask me how I have gotten to this place in my life of absolute certainty about the coming of wonderful things that have not yet occurred, wonderful things that I fully and completely affirm to be true, even when most other people would look at a certain set of current circumstances and say that there is no evidence for what I affirm to be real. I’ll leave the specifics to your imagination.

I’ll tell you some of how I know what I know and will continue to affirm until others perceive what I do.

1. When it comes to my quest for personal transformation I have never given up. The reason I have never given up is because I received some extraordinary experiences that showed me very dramatically that what people call the real world is not the real world. And that has forever placed doubts into my very being about the reality of everything associated with the so-called real world. There are worlds that permeate and transcend the so-called real world that are infinitely more lasting than the so-called real world. I would that everyone had such experiences so that they too could have that which urges them to always press on toward the next horizon of experience and perception. In many ways I believe that all people have had or will have these kinds of experiences. I chose to take mine seriously and followed it where it has led thus far.

2. I have continuously experienced things on my journey that are infinitely better than what I hoped, expected, or imagined they would be. This has been a powerful aid in my transformation. To be constantly surprised by how much better thing really are than I thought they would be has helped me to distrust the thoughts and feelings that have bubbled up out of my fear-based way of being. I have come to question everything that is perceived through a fear-based lens. I have been wrong so often about how bad things will be that there is no point in focusing on fear-based possibilities anymore. Only unlimited possibilities are justified by my experiences, so to engage in fear-based addictions and patterns is a complete waste of my time and energy since they have been disproven way too many times to have any reality except as I have chosen to give them in any particular moment.

3. I have desired personal transformation more than anything else in my life. I have made it a priority for almost two decades. I have been blessed with the understanding that to experience the world I desire I must become the kind of person worthy of experiencing that world. In other words I must become the kind of person who can exert his influence and authority and power in such as way that the world bends itself to my will, desires, intentions, and very being. I have had to become a ruler of reality instead of a slave to fear. Certainty and absolute confidence in unlimited possibilities are what the world needs now as humanity struggles to free itself from the accretions of the past several millennia. I am happy to stand with all who desire to fashion the world according to their highest and best intentions.

And yes, I occasionally slip out of this kind of knowing and being. I am not a master at all times. I occasionally choose to indulge in a victim mentality as those injured aspects of my false self rise to the surface for healing and release. In the past I used to beat myself up for eac hof my failures to meansure up to some standard of perfection. Now I recognize that it is all part of the journey toward ever-expanding horizons.

The world is begging for us to get clear, focused, congruent and coherent in our thoughts, feelings, intentions and actions.

As we increasingly gain clarity, we will look back and wonder what took us so long to wake up. The truth is that we had to experience enough of our nightmares long enough so that we could believe in much better dreams.

I do a tranformational communication talk and workshop call “Word Power.” I know, it sounds like a vocabulary-building program for gradeschoolers. So be it.

Anyway, through developing that program and seeing it’s power, I have come to appreciate even more the power of our spoken and unspoken words in attracting, creating, co-creating our worlds (however you like to think about it).

We are creators. We are made in the image of the creative Cource of Being. Everything about us is designed to create reality. Science is showing this to be true.

So, how about we speak and think with a bit more awareness?

Here’s one to get us started. How often do we hear people say, “No problem!” When someone thanks them for something they did? I hear it all of the time. Listen and see if it’s true for you as well. Chances are you say it yourself.

This would be fine except for the fact that repeating this phrase over and over again, actually creates more problems. I’m not going to go into all of the science that backs me up on this. Let’s just be open to the possibility that when you say a word your mind is focused on it. When you say the word “problem” your subconscious mind says, ‘OK, lets look for and create as many problems as we can.” You may be saying, “But I said, “No.” 

That’s great except for one thing, your subconscoius doesn’t do anything with “no.” It can’t form an image of it in such a way as to negate the images of problems that the second word creates. Even if you could visualize a “no” within your mind the second word is still spoken for your subconscious to manifest.

Whenever you find your self speaking of anything you don’t want, remember, you can make a new choice. You can say, “You’re welcome.” (There’s a revolutionary idea!) The possibilities are infinite. “My pleasure” is nice to use too. Go easy onyourself if you actually seek to change this particular habit. Enjoy the process. Find a buddy to play along with in changing this unconscious pattern. I know that you will discover some unanticipated positive changes if you take me up on this particular challenge.

Think and speak about what you want (instead of what you don’t want), and you will greatly increase your chances of experiencing it.

Go forth and create the world you desire! Your words have much more power than you realize!

Behind the scenes in our lives are all kinds of beings and forces and energies conspiring for our benefit.

Here’s how most people are living their lives right now. We are the producers, directors, playwrights, stars, technical directors, and set designers of our own plays. We call these plays our “lives.” This is great except for one thing-we forget that we created all of these things in the first place. We start buying into them as being real and outside of our control.

And yet, working behind the scenes, the crew and technical staff are doing their best to help us remember that we are in charge. They are doing everything they can (without violating our free will) to help us remember that we can make the show as fun as possible. They are loving us as we struggle through the challenging roles we have created with all of the drama. They are waiting for us to turn the tragedies we have created into comedies. They are cheering us on when we improvise instead of following the script.

Just knowing this makes me feel better. I hope it does for you as well.

Go forth and make your life a fabulously inspiring spectacle that takes your audience’s breath away.

There have been times in my life when I wanted something very badly, was absolutely certain I would receive it, and didn’t get it.

In those times I have usually chosen to experience disappointment. Those times were actually opportunities to let go of unpleasant feelings that were not necessary to hold onto anymore. I usually didn’t see things that way. I do now.

And while I still really want lots of things, and find that I do not receive them, I have become empowered to look at those experiences differently. Now, I can use them to become even more excited and certain of experiencing something even better than I had originally hopes for.

Here are a few things that allow me to do this. Perhaps they will serve you as well.

I choose to believe that I am protected from anything that is not for my higher good and the higher good of all. So if something that I truly and deeply desire does not manifest as I am certain it will, then I trust that it is all for the best, even if that makes no sense to me or anyone else.

I follow this belief up with choosing to believe that not receiving what I desired actually leaves me open to experiencing even better opportunities that are in even greater harmony with my life purpose.

I actively seek even better opportunities, recognizing that they can often come in the smallest and most unseemly of packages.

This is where trusting our guidance and intuition is critical. External appearances can deceive our brains and minds. Using our inner perceptions allows us to see the diamonds and gold glittering beneath the dirt and mud.

Should you experience disappointments, experience them fully. Allow all of the not-so-good thoughts and feelings to flow through you and into the earth. Let them go and then focus on the beliefs above.

Disappointment is a choice. I highly recommend transforming it into gratitude for the even better opportunities that are all around you, hidden in plain sight, and ready to be seized and maximized. Go after what you want! There are good reasons you want those things. As you do, you’ll either get them or receive lessons of even greater value. I guarantee it!

Love is the greatest power in the universe. It causes to the stars to burn and the seas to move. It is the power that takes hearts of stone and turns them into soft and vulnerable vessels of light, happiness, and joy. We are one. We are love. And there is no force based in fear or any other appearance of strength or anger or hate or greed that will overcome the light of love that shines, even though it may be buried under layers of fear and doubt.

You are good enough. You can trust yourself and even more importantly you can trust God. Share the love you have in every way you can and you will be blessed beyond your ability to imagine. Love deeply. Love plainly. Love simply. Simply love. Be love, because that is who you really are underneath everything you have been told and have chosen to believe that is out of harmony with that truth.

And if you feel low on love, it is as available as the air. Let it soak your soul. Bask in the wonder of it’s healing. It’s there even if you have never consciously experienced it before. Seek it with all of your heart and you will find it as long as you are willing to persist until you find it and after you find it.

GO BE THE LOVE YOU ARE!

Most people, most of the time, have all kinds of doubts about all kinds of things they want, wish, or would like to happen. The universe is a magnificent machine designed perfectly to give human beings exactly what they focus on. So what do feelings and thoughts of doubt create? They pretty much keep things the same as they are. Doubts take thoughts, feelings, and intentions that could shape a different future and negate or nullify them.

The universe responds to certainty. When a person or a group of people commit all of their time, energy, emotions, focus, attention, and faith to generating an outcome for long enough, it will come to pass. Of course all kinds of other variables related to the impassioned efforts of others will play a part in the creation of the desired outcome to the extent that the second groups’ efforts interact with the first person or group’s vision.

If you want something to occur, happen, be created, be transformed, or be done; focus upon that desired outcome with consistent and persistent certainty along with a red-hot, burning emotions of faith and passion. If at the same time you take daily inspired actions consistent with the creation of that desired outcome, it will occur. It must occur. The universe must bend itself to the power of your unstoppable desire.

So why don’t more people experience the fulfillment of their deepest desires? Because they doubt and lack certainty. And why is this the case? If you have been reading this blog for a while, you know what the answer is: fear. Fears that we are not-worthy enough, good enough, smart enough, strong enough, experienced enough, whatever enough-will cause the universe to give us whatever will keep us in the realm of what we think we already know.

To transform our lives and the world, all we need to do is release all of our fears. I think that is great deal to bring heaven to earth!

When people find out about my business, I get to have some very interesting conversations. Recently, I was having a conversation with a lady about what makes a religion more or less true.

At some point in our conversation, it came to the point where I asked her what she knew to be true. She replied saying something like, “We believe that…” I pointed out to her that I was not interested in what she or anyone else believed. I also pointed out that I was only concerned with what she knew based on her own personal experiences and perceptions (not on the affirmations of a bunch of people called “we”).

She said that I was splitting hairs and playing games with semantics with the distinctions I was making between believing and knowing. Actually, no I wasn’t.

Here’s an example of the difference between believing and knowing that you may appreciate:

When I talk about my relationship with my wife, I speak about what I know, not what I believe. I know my wife from our almost 20 year relationship. I know her because I live with her, talk with her everyday, love her, experience her love for me, play with her, make love to her, laugh with her, cry with her, make money with her, face challenges with her, create things with her, travel with her-you get the picture.

I know my wife. I don’t know her completely and totally, but we have a relationship where I have confidence in who we are to each other because of the depth and quality of our relationship. When I talk about my wife, I don’t say, “We believe that [such and such is true]…” I say things like, “My wife is [insert any wonderful adjective here]…”, “We are [insert pretty much any positive phrase here]…”, “She is so good at [this wonderful and important thing]…”, “I love the way she [does something good]…”

I don’t tell people that I believe that my wife is anything. Why would I talk about what I think or believe when I actually know her to the extent that I do?

If you can only talk to me about what you (or what you and a bunch of other people believe) about God, you don’t know God. [If what I just wrote upset you, you really need to get to know God better!] We don’t get upset and defensive about who and what we really know. When we are challenged (like I am challenging you right now), we only get upset when we are afraid that we are wrong (and conversely, that the annoying guy pushing our buttons is right!).

We don’t know what we don’t know. If I were to somehow “lose” my relationship with God (or my wife or son for that matter), I would know what I was missing. I would be significantly challenged if any of those relationships ended.

If you don’t know God to this extent right now, I suggest that you carve out some time every day to seek God with all of your heart. This way you will begin to know what you don’t know right now. You will begin to receive something that can never be taken away. When it comes to God, you will be able to speak of what and who you know instead of what you and other people think and believe. There’s a lot more power in knowing God than you can currently imagine.

While I am a huge fan of what is commonly referred to as the ”Law of Attraction,” I also believe that there are other laws at work in the cosmos. I call one of these, “The Law of Displacement.” Here’s my thumbnail sketch of this universal principle.

Two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time. This principle can be appied at all levels of reality.

The physical: When we put an object in a bathtub filled to the brim, water flows out. Remember Archimedes and his “Eureka!” moment? By the way, te story says tht he ran through the streets naked. Now that’s passion!

The mental: If we are focused on what we fear and do not want, we do not have the space or time to think about what we do want and what we trust we will receive.

The emotional: When we indulge in the pleasures of negative feelings (of yes, we get something out of experiencing them, otherwise we wouldn’t waste our time with them) we miss out on the opportunities to experience positive emotions that actually help to attract what our souls most deeply desire.

The spiritual: When we cling to our fears around being loved or lovable, surviving, being accepted, being worthy of good things, being good enough, being crticized, et cetera, we do not have room in our souls for the Spiritual Power that gives us the actual expereinces of being unconditionally loved, immortal, being worthy of the best, and being good.

There are two sides to displacement:

1. Letting go of that which does not serve us so well.

2. Accepting and allowing that which serves us much better.

When we work both aspects of the functioning of this law, we will experience absolutely amazing results.

Since this law is a universal principle, it applies to every single aspect of our lives, from our relationships to our money, to our time, to our homes, to our work and health, every single aspect of our lives is directly and powerfully shaped by the workings of this principle.

May every space in our lives be filled to overflowing with miraculous and wonderful things!

Every moment of every day is chock-full of opportunties. To the extent that we are clear of fear, we can recognize them and act upon them helping us to fulfill our destinies that much more powerfully, effectively, and quickly. Fear blinds os to possibilities. It is like a defensive structure that stands between a person and what he or she  wants. It’s also like a person who is carrying a whole lot of luggage (AKA: baggage) through an airport. They are so tired out from dragging all of those bags around and so preoccupied with making sure that they still have everything, that they miss seeing and meeting Oprah in the terminal, or maybe the Dali Lama, Nelson Mandella, or Paris Hilton.

To achieve as much of our potential as possible, we much CLEAR THE FEAR. We must let go of our baggage and travel light so that we can speed toward our dreams and goals, realizing the unique vision that has been implanted within us for the healing of the world.
