Lately, I’ve gotten a little stuck. Honestly, I don’t like admitting this. I still would like to be this perfect example for people, and yet that is still an ego-based, fear-based program running on statements and feelings like, “I’m not good enough.” “If people know the truth, they won’t like me, or accept me, or hire me, or respect me.” On and on. It’s all B.S. (Being Silly).

So, as I’m in the process of letting more of this stuff go, here are some of my thoughts on being real as I continue to work toward being more and more real with myself and with other people.

As I think about it, if people can’t accept me as I am, with all of my wonderful imperfections, that’s really their problem. The truth is the only people who won’t accept us as we are are people who do not accept themselves as they are. The judgement they heap upon us is nothing compared to the self-hatred, self-disgust, self-loathing, self-judgement they are currently buried under. We need to seek other people’s approval and acceptance much less than we need to give our own to those people who are especially challenging for us to love. They are in our lives to help us learn to love those aspects of ourselves that we have not allowed ourselves to fall in love with yet.

And, really, without the challenges that I am currently attracting, how can I expect myself to learn and grow? If I had no challenges, it would be a state of death. There would be nothing to work on, to grow, to develop, to expand, to clarify. I might as well not exist at that point! Our challenges, no matter how challenging, are great gifts that give us the opportunity (when we choose to see them this way) to change the way we are playing.

Being in the kinda stuck place I am right now has also caused me to ask very different questions than I was asking before. Before this little phase, my questions were of a tweaking nature, making small adjustments in my approach to improve results. Now I am beginning to ask paradigm-shifting questions that are going much more to the root issues that I need to deal with. For example, “how could I approach something from a completely different point of view? How can I give more? How can I trust more? What is right in front of my face that I’m not seeing? How much am I trusting myself, the universe, God? What deeper fears is it now time for me to become conscious of and release?

I don’t know if this post will be of any value to you, but it’s been incredibly helpful for me!

Thanks for taking the journey with me! You honor me with your attention! May your awareness continue to expand and your journey continue to deepen in love and it’s many blessings!

Last night Liam stayed up a little past his normal bedtime after an especially busy day. Wendy and I were guiding him to his bedroom. He was holding Wendy’s hand, and I was guiding him from behind. He was kind of stumbling along. We thought it was because he was so tired. Only after he ran into the door frame to his bedroom did we realize that he had been walking with his eyes closed on the way to bed. He had shut them on purpose because he thought it would be fun.

This makes me think about how so many people think about faith. They think that faith is blindly following a person, a guru, a savior, a church, a teaching, a teacher, a faith, a tradition, political party, country, or dogma. I guarantee if this is how you are living your faith, you are going to eventually run into a lot of door frames too.

Here’s my take on faith. faith to me is living my life with my eyes wide open, being as aware of everything going on within and around me as I possibly can. And while living in this way, I trust that God and others and my spiritual self will help me become aware of everything else I need to become aware of to step more fully into who I really am and who God really is and who others rewally are. I trust that evertything I need to perceive and become aware of will be revealed to me with perfect timing and in the absolutely perfect ways for me to do what I need to do to fulfill my destiny.

By questioning everything that doesn’t make sense or doesn’t support what we truly and deeply desire, we are creating the space to become even more faithful. While this may not have been what you have been taught. It is absolutely true, especially when it comes to the most hallowed and cherished beliefs, creeds, dogmas, and traditions that we have chosen to accept “on faith.”

Mental assent and agreement doesn’t compare with the wonders and joys of a constantly-expanding awareness of infinite possibilities! This is what true faith is. Anything else is only a cheap imitation!

You are not who you think you are. You are not what you believe you are. Find out how to experience the truth of you!

I’ll tell you a little about what’s been going on with me lately. I have been realizing things about myself that were either unknown to me or just outside of my conscious awareness. I’m making connections and making distinctions that – while not always pretty or flattering – are pretty accurate, and the truth is setting me free as I open myself up to it.

We need to become aware of the things that are true about ourselves (or that we think are true but are actually false). To create awesome lives, we need to see and know what we do not see and know about ourselves right now.

We’re all going through our lives with blind spots. These blind spots come in all shapes and sizes. The problem is that these gaps in our fields of perception blind us to a lot of stuff that is right in front of our faces. I’m not being hyperbolic here. I really mean that these things are right there to be perceived, and we just don’t see them at all. Yet, we are constantly bumping into them like invisible force fields, closed glass doors that we think are open, or invisible glass ceilings that we do not think we can pass through. As this happens constantly (again, no hyperbole intended) we wonder what is going on. Hint: You attracted it through the resonance of your personal energy field(s) with other energies that harmonized well-enough with the circumstance to bring it into your experience.

To the extent that we do not perceive our true and false selves and to the extent that we deny, suppress, and ignore our false and true selves, we suffer. This lack of perception leads to disruptions in our connections to the powers that are our birthright. As a result we experience suffering and pain. We create illusions that reinforce the lies that have become attached to our being (because we allowed them to attach themselves in the first place), sapping our strength and power. We do not fully experience our connection to the Source because we are pointing our attention in the wrong directions.

If it is the things that we do not see and do not know that we most need to deal with in order to experience our true selves and our true capabilities. How do we do that? Here are a few suggestions:

1. Get someone else with a different perspective to help you see the things that are hiding in plain sight. You need someone who will not let you off the hook and who will hold you accountable for the way you are creating your reality.

2. Remember a truth that is sprinkled throughout this blog, your experiences are a mirror of what is happening within you. Everything! When you see or experience anything that creates any kind of automatically emotionally charged reaction for you, realize that you attracted that circumstance and your reaction gives you clues as to what you really think and feel. These thoughts and feelings are clues to your deepest motivations or what I like to call intentions.

3. Pretend that you are just stepping into the middle of your life for the first time, right now. You could imagine that you are an alien from an advanced civilization who has hijacked your body. This being comes from a world that has already solved all of the problems and issues that plague you and many of your fellow humans at this time. This being would have access to your thoughts and feelings and memories. What would this advanced, enlightened and absolutely compassionate being’s perspective be on your experience of your existence? What would he or she find confusing, amusing, limiting, untrue, etc?

4. Keep a journal or some other kind of record of things that have your attention and look for patterns and themes. Realize that anything you experience as outside of you is an excellent reflection of the drama of what is actually going on within you. These can be waking or dreaming experiences, “real” or “imagined.” They can involve situations that have no obviously direct connection to you. It doesn’t matter. They are all giving you useful information that can help you transform your life when you pay attention. If you are not yet skilled at interpreting your reality or “reading between the lines of your life,” get someone who can help you develop those skills so that you can understand what your life is telling you about what is happening within you.

5. Come up with other ways that feel joyful to create more objectivity with regard to your experiences. Come up with other creative ways to hold a mirror up to your experience.

Who we are is more than enough. This is not what we have been taught so far. For most of us this idea has not yet become true. There is nothing deficient or lacking in our being. We just happen to have acquired some things that are not in harmony with the truth—with who we actually are. When we release these things (and release them we will!) our lives become unfolding adventures that are beyond our ability to imagine at this time. We exist to experience a Life of infinitely unfolding possibilities.
