One of the most powerful forces keeping people from experiencing holistic success is a sense of unworthiness. You wouldn't be here if you weren't worthy! You are not a mistake. You are spectacular. Read this if you are interested in setting yourself free from this particular prison.

One of the biggest blocks that keeps people from living their destiny (oh yeah, you’ve got a destiny) is their sense that they are not good enough. Most people have thoughts and feelings that go something like this:

“I’m not worthy of fill in the blank.”

“Who do you think you are?”

“What makes you think you deserve that?”

“I’m fill in the blank with a not-so-good thing.”

“I’ve made too many mistakes.”

“I can’t start over now.”

“I’m not fill in the blank enough.”

Does any of this sound familiar? Does any of this feel familiar? If it doesn’t, you’ve either already cleared it and your life is an absolute dream, or your “circuits as so jammed” (to borrow a phrase from Caroline Myss) that you don’t have a clue about the subconscious automated programs that are running your life.

I am writing this post to help you “get” two things:

To recognize that this is one of the biggest obstacles to most people achieving holistic success.

To connect you to your own inspiration enough to consciously let all of this garbage go.

Let me tell you something that you already know deep within you: any thoughts or feelings of unworthiness you experience have nothing to do with the truth or reality. God made you in God’s very own invisible image. You were made to perfection without any flaw or defect. I know this. Until you know it, I’m asking you to trust me on this one.

The other thing is that you can let these thoughts, feelings, intentions, and body sensations go—all of them. They are not truly a part of who you are. This is stuff you took on through interpreting various energies and circumstances in your life from the moment of conception until now. Just because they feel like they are a part of you, does not mean that they must always be true for you.

You can let them go, and you must let them go to have an absolutely amazing life. Why? Because if you don’t release them, you may be able to temporarily create the appearance of holistic success, but eventually these thoughts, feelings, intentions, and body sensations will cause you to create circumstances that will require you to let go of the appearances and face the truth of the heavy burden of the lies you have been carrying around but denying and suppressing.

So, I encourage you to recognize that this struggle is happening within you (if you weren’t already aware of it). I also encourage you to clear these patterns from you being at all levels (physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual). Until you let them go, you will not be allowed to give of yourself and serve others to the greatest extent possible. You will continue to try to live your life inside a small, dark cell of doubt and fear. You’ll become frustrated and depressed. Let go of these burdens! Set yourself free! On the other side of these fears is a life of incredible richness, love, peace, joy, and more good things than you can even imagine right now. Here’s to the next phase of your life! Cheers!!!

This man shared with me some of his thoughts on fear. He had been taught that being fearless (literally unafraid) would get him killed. He happens to work in law enforcement and has received a lot of training from many people over the years on how to stay alive and not get dead.

Every single person had taught him that being unafraid would get him killed very quickly. He took this advice to heart and decided to be afraid in going about his law enforcement work.

He shared with me a story of recently transferring a prisoner who had received a life sentence. The man was in the back of his car, and asked for one last thing before being taken to prison, Kentucky Fried Chicken. The officer, who knew that doing this could cost him his job and even get him killed, considered the request. He granted the man with a life sentence his wish. He took him to KFC and bought him a two piece meal, standing ready for when this man’s friends came into the store to kill him. He had the man hurry up and finish the chicken and get back into the car for the rest of the trip to prison.

This cop was terrified during this whole story. He was afraid of being shot. He was afraid of losing his job should what he did become known. He had been taught that his terror was what was going to keep him alive.

What if none of this was necessary? What if he could have been fearless in this circumstance? What could have been different?

Here’s what I know for sure.

If this man was fearless, he could have known what this man’s true intentions were: to set a trap to make a break for freedom, or to have food that reminded him of the joy and freedom of being a kid again).

If this man was fearless, he could have been at peace at KFC and really soaked in the wonderful compassion of what he offered this man out of the generosity of his real and true heart. He could have taken his time, sensed very clearly whether there were any threats, and allowed this man to heat his chicken and really savor the moment.

People think that their fears keep them safe. Wrong! Our fears keep us in fear and attract the very circumstances that cause us to feel fear and react out of that fear.

Robert Frost wrote, “There’s nothing I’m afraid of like scared people.” I know why he said it. It’s time for each and every one of us to release every fear we carry around to keep ourselves safe, even the fear of scared people!
